I went from sceptic to stan.

Yes, the front cover is a bit rough, the animations feel straight out of a Freddie Gibbs project, and the sequencing can be criticized. Still, when it comes to the music, which at first sounded like a bunch of AI-generated demos to me, I’ve come around. I’ve been blasting this album on repeat. The last third of the record has some of the best songs I’ve heard in recent memory, that is, if you’re into this kind of moody RnB that shaped our twenties.

I’m also glad they’re seeing some commercial success with tracks like “Gimme a Hug” and “Nokia.” The “Nokia” video is right around the corner and is set to give them another push toward mainstream acceptance.

What started off as easy to dismiss ended up creeping in and sticking around. That’s the kind of album I end up trusting and loving the most.
